Bus Interchange, DOI Melbourne

Since the commitment of $33 Million in 2004 by the Victorian State Government to provide a Smart Bus service through out Melbourne there has been a ever increasing effort to improve public transport infrastructure to improve efficiency and address safety & industrial concerns.

Delivered in May 2007 by way of partnership between the Department of Infrastructure Public Transport Division and Hume City Council the Broadmeadows Bus Interchange has been upgraded by the placement of a red surfacing treatment in line with other Smart Bus coloured surface treatments clearly identifying the terminal area a bus only zone.

The bus interchange, located adjacent to the Broadmeadows railway station had been a traditional hot spot for illegal parking and deliveries. The installation of the red OMNIGRIP CST surfacing has since given the area a new identity and is discouraging people from using the bus area for other purposes providing a new level of safety and functionality to the busy interchange area.
